The best of the new codes are the queries and the random favorites, to use the node Query for instance, you simply enter 06 and the mode number, the Repeater will come back with the node's call sign in voice, if you enter 064794 it will announce NZ9R, a very handy feature. The new random favorites simply picks out a contact in the servers random list, right now we don't have any stations in our favorites list, but I will be adding some of the regulars in the next few days, you may want to copy and paste these codes to a text file and print them out for future reference. Also I don't recall a 00 for random node, so instead of a 01 to connect to a link or repeater, you can select between a link with a 01 and a random node with a 00. We recommend you avoid the random conf 02, many times you will get into conferences where the language is no English, sometimes you will be ignored and not allowed time to break in, and many conferences are quick on the key and disconnecting via DTMF can be difficult if not impossible is some cases. Those of you who have had that happen and the conf magically disappear, that was the SysOps of the Echlink node manually clicking them off.
(If anyone would like a station added the favorites, just send an e-mail and we'll be glad to add it for you)
We made some config changes on the Echolink server, it now identifies in voice the call sign of every station that connects in real time, if you should hear someone connect, give them a minute or so, and if they do not ID or call CQ, give them a call, be sure to give them plenty of time, some of these people could be newbies getting their stations up for the first time. But after a couple of calls and no ID or response or CQ call from the connecting station, please use the pound sign to disconnect them. If they continue to re-connect in that manner, we will add them to the banned station list and that will be the end of that :-) It also ID's in voice the call sign of any disconnecting station too. We certainly hope you all enjoy the new features.
Everything seems to be working great, see you on 146.955!
